Ep. 176 True Crime: The Solitary Confinement of Dennis Wayne Hope


We are still on our Bachelor break, and still bringing you stories connected to the whole of Bachelor Nation. We know that The Bachelor franchise gives contestants very little access to the outside world when they are on the show. This is Danielle’s inspiration and connection for this week’s story.

This is a non-murder true crime story. Dennis Wayne Hope currently spends virtually every waking minute alone in a jail cell smaller than a compact parking space. Decades of isolation have led to hallucinations, chronic pain, and thoughts of taking his life. While incarcerated, for a non-violent offense after several prison escapes, he is trying to bring light to the issue of prolonged solitary confinement and the Supreme Court of the United States may be listening.
